Shadow
Shadow is a black female fixed 5 yo sweet girl from the Escondido Shelter.
Shadow is very ball excited and is very fun to play with. She is trained and obedient, once she realizes that she is going to be out of the cage for awhile. She is not kenneling well because she really likes to be around people and carry a toy in her mouth (or chew it up if she is completely bored). She is from the Escondido shelter and on her way out the door from the shelter, she rummaged in their toy bin and helped herself to a cute squeaky toy that I heard squeak all the way from Escondido to Bonita.
At the shelter, they said she was becoming increasingly depressed, but bring her into a playpen and throw the ball a few times and she won’t let you stop playing once she knows she can trust you. She is fine with other dogs and passed all the tests at the shelter except the hug test (which is where they hold the dog for 5 secs) in which she bolted. That is one of the tests they use to determine if the dog is okay with little kids, but I imagine it was part of her environment and depression at being in the shelter. I played with her for quite a long time and in all the tests I did, she passed with flying colors. I tugged and yanked and held and all that stuff and she was completely fine and relaxed.
Walking away after leaving her at Jensen’s, I could tell that she was setting up to be sad again, because she wined a bit as I walked away. I really think this sweet girl would be great in almost any home as long as the owners will play with her and love her and I think she will be fine with a busy household.
For those owners looking for an easy adaptation to their home, I think Shadow is the girl for them, she is already mostly trained and housebroken and just looking for some love.
